New Stadium Build
Local Basketball courts are at capacity which is why we are unable to offer all of our teams one hour training slots and need to use courts outside our immediate local area for some of our home games.
To help address this shortage and provide the opportunity for more of our young athletes to participate in Basketball we are partnering with Box Hill Senior Secondary College, a specialist sporting school, to develop new indoor sporting courts that we will be able to use for some of our training and games.
We have engaged architects to develop plans and a professional proposal that has been submitted to government officials to secure funding. We are also running a social media campaign to assist in generating support for this proposal.
The proposed new facility will have significant benefits for our community such as:
- Increased female participation in sport
- Promotion of cultural diversity through participation in community sport
- Positive mental and physical health impacts
- Improved Educational Opportunities - the new facility will enable Box Hill Senior Secondary to expand its program to meet anticipated demand plus will support Koonung Comets to continue to grow and support our young athletes.
