Our Club

We are a junior domestic basketball club based in Box Hill North, Melbourne.

We have a large number of boys and girls teams entered in the Eastern Districts Junior Basketball Association (EDJBA) competition.  EDJBA games are played on Saturday, and most teams also have a weekly training session (typically Mon-Thu afternoon / evening at Koonung Secondary College.)

As a part of the Eastern Districts Junior Basketball Association one of the largest domestic competitions in Australia. Koonung Comets accommodates both boys and girls in age groups ranging from under 8 to under 21. Due to the size of the competition, we are able to cater for the varying grades of players. The competition encompasses an area that stretches from Park Orchards to Nunawading, Collingwood to Eltham.

There are two seasons played through the year, winter and summer, and every Saturday we field over 100 teams.  We have teams from A grade to D grade, so can accommodate everyone from beginners, who have never played, up to those who want to play Domestic basketball at the highest level.

Winter season commences from April to September (excluding school holidays). Teams are comprised of players who are under the age of 9, 11, 13, 15, 17, 19 and 21 on the 1st January before the season commences.

Summer season commences from October to March (excluding school holidays). Teams are comprised of players who are under the age 8, 10, 12, 14, 16, 18 and 21 years on 1st July before the season commences.

We also run a Shooting Stars program designed to introduce younger children to basketball in a fun, inclusive environment. Participants have an opportunity to learn the fundamental skills of basketball at their own pace before they join a team and start playing in competitive games.  Click here form more information on Shooting Stars.
